How to tell a Sable Point from a Sable Frost or a Frosty

It is difficult to tell a sable point from a sable frost until they are a few weeks old. Even then, they will look very similar in color. A Sable Point aa B_ c(chl)_ D_ ee will have a DARK/greyish/brownish underside of the tail. The inside AND outside of the ear will be DARK. They are not agoutie. Therefore you should not see any rings when you blow into their coat.

A Sable Frost A_B_c(chl) _ D_ ee is the agoutie version of a sable point. So you should see slight rings when you blow intoe their fur. This may take a month or 2 to develope. A good way to tell is....a sable frost will have a WHITE underside of the tail. The outside of the ear will be darkish BUT the inside of their ears will be lighter/white.

A Frosty A_B_chd_D_ee will be pretty light everywhere. They do look 'frosty'. The points won't be very dark. The back of the ears will be light like the rest of the body. Frosty's are also agoutie. Therefore you will see light rings in the fur when you blow into their coat.
